Bo Young (he/they/she) is a queer artist based in Portland, OR. Their main artistic medium is digital photography, with a focus on creative portraiture. Bo specializes in self-portraiture, but has branched out to collaborating with others to make narrative, autobiographical portraits that explore individuals’ identities. Bo has had work shown in one jurored gallery exhibit, where his piece was chosen for the poster of the show, and won the I Heart Art award.

Bo values working with others in the artistic process to create something new together. She aims to continue to push her creative boundaries and make art that bridges the gap between fiction and reality.

Bo would like to thank their original photography instructor, Lisa Smith, for opening their eyes to the possibilities that photography has to offer and for encouraging them to pursue art seriously. He would also like to thank his family and friends who agreed to collaborate on projects to furnish his portfolio. She would like to thank the lovely people at HomePlate, especially Rebecca Quintana, and the wonderful people at Outside In’s ERC, specifically Elodie Bruno, who have provided the financial assistance to get started on her photography journey. They would also like to thank the dozens of loved ones, peers, classmates, mentors, acquaintances, and strangers who have given emotional support and encouragement to them as they pursue photography.
